After weeks of waiting, the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) has officially announced the passers for this year’s 2024 S&T Undergraduate Scholarship qualifying exams!
From the 89,510 who sat in the pen-and-paper based national-level test last April 2019, only a total of 10,756 examinees are deemed qualified to join as new scholars. This is great for Science and Technology in the country!
Recap of the qualifiers
- RA 7687 Scholarship Program: 5,839 students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds with strong academic performance have earned a spot in this program.
- Merit Scholarship Program: 4,917 students with exceptional aptitude in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields have qualified for this scholarship.
- There are also 244 potential qualifiers whose names are still pending announcement. These individuals need to resubmit certain requirements to confirm their qualifications.
What’s next for the qualifiers?
These lucky students can expect to receive a comprehensive scholarship package that includes:
- Monthly stipend of P8,000
- Tuition fee subsidies up to P40,000 per academic year for private universities and colleges
- Learning materials and/or connectivity allowance
- Book allowance
- Thesis/dissertation allowance
- Graduation allowance
- Health insurance
- For scholars studying outside their home province: Transportation allowance
