Who Can Take the Master Plumber Exam?

Under RA 1378 (the Plumbing Law) and current PRC rules, you can apply through either of two routes:

  • Degree holders: graduates of Architecture, Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Mining or Sanitary Engineering. No separate plumbing experience is needed.
  • Non-degree holders: high school graduates with at least five years of actual plumbing experience under a registered Master Plumber, backed by a notarized certificate of experience.

All applicants must be Filipino citizens of good moral character.

Documentary Requirements

  • PSA birth certificate
  • PSA marriage certificate (for married female applicants using their married name)
  • Degree holders: Transcript of Records with photo and the remark “For Board Examination Purposes” (with Special Order number, if applicable). Registered professionals may also need a copy of their valid PRC ID.
  • Non-degree holders: high school diploma or Transcript of Records, a notarized five-year Certificate of Experience signed by a registered Master Plumber, and a copy of that Master Plumber’s valid PRC ID
  • The examination fee, as assessed in LERIS

Tip for non-degree applicants: start getting your Certificate of Experience notarized now. It’s the document that most often delays applications. New to LERIS? Follow our PRC LERIS Online Registration Guide.

Exam Subjects and Weights

Subject Weight
Plumbing Arithmetic 10%
Sanitation, Plumbing Design and Installation 40%
National Plumbing Code of the Philippines 10%
Practical Problems 40%

The exam runs over two days. Design and Installation and Practical Problems together make up 80% of your rating, so put most of your review time there. Exam Passers Examinees Passing rate
